Navigating a Typical World with an Atypical Child

Featuring Regina Stoops, comedian and mother of a child with autism - hilariously funny, you won't want to miss it!
After a light and funny intro by Regina, Todd Gary, SRVUSD Special Needs Liaison, will facilitate a panel of parent veterans who will share tips and strategies about the daily clash of culture that confronts parents of a child with special needs!
Below are some examples of topics that will be covered:
Managing pushy or critical family members and in-laws
Navigating restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping malls
Breaking into the tight social cliques of school and neighborhood
Dealing with other classroom parents
Helping school staff understand
Creating social opportunities for your child outside of school
Finding sport and recreation opportunities that fit
Attending social events with your child
Handling insensitive comments positively and with poise
