Steven Lawrence, the new superintendent of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, invites you to attend a COMMUNITY MEETING to:

• Meet the new Superintendent
  
• Learn about the current challenges of the District during these difficult fiscal times
  
• Learn about what is being done to address these needs
  
• Share your thoughts about additional ways we can work together to benefit our students

BOE Appoints new Superintendent

At a special board meeting last night, the MDUSD Board of Education appointed Steven Lawrence as the district's new superintendent. He will take over from interim superintendent Richard Nicoll on February first. Dr. Nicoll has served as interim superintendent since September, following the resignation of Gary McHenry and will retire on January 31st. Dr. Lawrence is currently the superintendent at Washington Unified School District West Sacramento. The MDUSD board members made an on site visit there this morning. Superintendent Search

Jim Brown from Leadership Associates, the superintendent search firm, will be meeting with the Mt. Diablo school board on Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00pm in the district office board room. They will be updating the board members on the search and the meeting is open to the public. If you were not able to attend the open forums, you may give your input at this meeting. Input may also be offered by fax or phone at (949) 461-9119 or by email to leadershipassociates@cox.net.

Superintendent Search

Leadership Associates is conducting a search for a new superintendent on behalf of the Board of Education. Today and tomorrow they are soliciting public input. If you would like to voice your opinion on the kind of superintendent you would like to see, tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow, there is an open forum from 5:30-7:00pm at the Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane in Concord.
