BOE Appoints new Superintendent

At a special board meeting last night, the MDUSD Board of Education appointed Steven Lawrence as the district's new superintendent. He will take over from interim superintendent Richard Nicoll on February first. Dr. Nicoll has served as interim superintendent since September, following the resignation of Gary McHenry and will retire on January 31st. Dr. Lawrence is currently the superintendent at Washington Unified School District West Sacramento. The MDUSD board members made an on site visit there this morning.
