Parent Academy: Let's Get Together and Talk About (moan and groan too if you'd like) Establishing New Holiday Traditions

Join us Wednesday to discuss establishing new holiday traditions this year.  I know we all may be disappointed that we have to think about ways to celebrate this season that are different than what we used to do or did last year.  But it is a good opportunity to establish new and possibly enjoy newly established traditions or holiday celebrations.  Join for a time to share in the grumbles and brainstorm ideas, Plus I have some ideas to share too.

A little personal note: My family had offered to only see my in-laws in place of our normal 30 person Christmas Eve dinner we host at our house, but funny enough, they declined our invitation.  I think they are being smart.  For a brief moment I was sad and began wondering why I was decorating my house for Christmas if no one was coming.  But then I thought about my children and also how wonderful it would be to have one year when it was just the four of us!  I then got extremely excited realizing I wouldn't be running around hosting tons of people, cleaning up before and then seeing the disaster after the guests leave and could do WHATEEVER WE DECIDE!  So, I am planning on doing take out, opening all our presents that night, playing games as a family and going to be soooo much earlier than I normally do with a completely clean kitchen!  I'd say this will be a nice win for this year and if I like it, maybe I won't mind doing it again if need be!

I am a teacher who lives in Concord and works outside of this District, but I used to be a SPED
resource parent at MDUSD, and a CAC volunteer. Share a few ideas your group had to create new traditions. I could use a few this year. Thanks so much.
