Early on in the pandemic I was struggling to manage the day to day, my husband and I think back to the time when our son was a newborn and we were focused on just surviving each day. As I looked for many resources to help my family through this difficult time, I found this resource, Ten Percent Happier. I thought, what a clever title, the expectation was low, you don't have to focus on something big, JUST TEN PERCENT. At the time I thought, huh, I think I can give and aim for ten percent more. And let me tell you, there were times when all I could give and aim for was ten percent. Today, I still have those days but I have used a lot of what I have learned in the past 9 months and feel a whole lot happier and more prepared for the day and less focused on just survival.
Then I got this email, my Ten Percent Happier Newsletter "Ten Percent Weekly" Issue 179 titled "The Warrior and the Caregiver" and it really spoke to me and challenged me to do MORE FOR Me. I am not just surviving, I am not just aiming for ten percent, I am striving to be a warrior and a caregiver. I CAN DO THIS! YOU CAN DO THIS!
I AM A WARRIOR! I get up in the morning, I have adapted my daily routine to adjust to the current times and I have found a way to do a little more than survive the day to day. I take what is happening now and I focus on the now and do what I need to do. YOU TOO ARE WARRIORS!
I AM A CAREGIVER! I forgive myself at times of greatest challenge, I recognize the need for new tools like meditation, I understand the need for compassion for my own self, not just for others and I listen to my limitations and times of greatest weakness as a time to reintegrate into a nurturing environment. YOU TOO ARE CAREGIVERS!
Be A Warrior and a Caregiver for yourself so that you can be one for those that need you.
