Dear Friends of CHC,As the school year approaches, are you finding yourself filled with worry and apprehension? Are you struggling to make hard choices for your family as school plans – and recommendations from the CDC – seem to change so often? You are not alone—we are here for you! Join other parents who are facing the same challenges. We have three free parent support groups that focus on specific challenges affecting those of us raising children with learning differences, supporting kids with ADHD, or simply struggling with the demands of emotional support during a global pandemic. ADHD – Aug 12 at 11:30 amKids and teens with ADHD have a unique set of challenges and need patience and attention that you may be struggling to provide. Knowing you are not alone can make a huge difference as we prepare for an unusual start of the school year. CHC Psychologist Anna Parnes, PhD will lead this weekly discussion group. Parenting during Uncertain Times – Aug 12 at 1:00 pmThis week’s group will focus on discussing how to support children and teens to manage their big emotions during this uncertain time. How do you provide for their needs when you yourself may be feeling tapped out and overwhelmed? Come to a safe space and learn strategies to help. This group will be led by CHC Psychologist Pardis Khosravi, PsyD. Learning Differences – Aug 21 at 11:30 amAre you stressed about how to support your LD student as they start the school year, perhaps without the usual learning supports and accommodations they are used to? Join other parents who are facing the same challenges and share tips and strategies while receiving support and community. This weekly discussion group will be facilitated by Kendra Evans Fraka, MSW. Our free support groups connect you with a like-minded virtual village in a safe space, and are led by CHC clinical psychologists. Register today and invite a friend. We’re in this together. Sincerely, Cindy Lopez Director, Community Connections |
