If you don't get any updates or posts and wonder why you haven't heard from me in awhile, don't worry, I am just taking a little time to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature and my kids!
Here are some ways to disconnect:
~ Put that phone down and be present in the moment. Set aside time to be away from technology.
~ Go somewhere in nature free from signals and cell phone towers and enjoy the peace and quiet.
~ Create daily activities that focus on connection with people, nature, home projects, science projects, etc. and that keep you off the internet for a period of time.
~ Meditate, walk, exercise, play!
~ After dinner, play a board game or a fun game of tag with your kids, it will remind you of your childhood.
~ Find something to do that you have never done before, it will surprise you and your kids and you will forget about your emails and phone messages.
Here are some tips to help your children disconnect or at least limit their time online.
~ Make a menu of items to choose from to complete before the recreational screen time is opened up.
~ Make scheduled times to be on and off electronics.
~ Teach your children to tell time and monitor their time, or teach them to use a timer.
~ Monitor the places they are maintaining and sustaining their relationships, if it's online make sure they have time to do that and make sure they are accessing relationships safely.
~ Create positive online experiences, use games and specific guided chats, but make sure not to force your child to maintain social relationships online if they are not up to it.
Enjoy a little time to relax, rejuvenate and return to the daily grind refreshed.
