Social Emotional Support at Home

Help!  My child's emotions are a roller coaster ride!

Some of you may have noticed that even with a daily routine, structured schedule, extra love, virtual play dates, star charts and continuous praise are still not enough to keep your children's or teens emotions at bay during this "not normal" times ( as my daughter would call it).  And it's okay to say things are "not normal" or to feel a little off these days because guess what, THINGS ARE NOT NORMAL!

Well what in life is normal, there isn't a normal really?  During this time your child may feel like things are not normal, the way they were used to things before the pandemic.  So since my kids have been a little out of sorts lately I started looking for ways to support their social emotional growth and education, not just their academic.  I was excited to find out that there were a lot of resources right there on the MDUSD Parent Portal.

Check out the many links and resources on the Parent Portal.  Check out the Counseling Resources for Elementary (Spanish) and Counseling Resources for Secondary.(Spanish) There are so many links on these resources page to check out!

There's also a lot of ideas from the Equity Department in Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies including having a Structured Setting for Distance Learning Family Community Circles to build trust and share our feelings and emotions.
