Special-needs children must have help in emergencies

The safety of a child is always a concern for any parent, but for the parents of a child who is on the autism spectrum or who has developmental disabilities, simple issues can become an emergency. When an autistic child is young, parents worry about the "runners" (the children who don't understand danger and use running as an escape to get out of difficult and unknown situations). They worry about the child who may have impulse control issues and who has no fear of jumping, heights, moving vehicles, unknown pets, predators or even a hot stove.
