Here Comes the Sun! Summer Fun for Your Children

Here are some summer ideas for those of you looking for something to do with your children while they are on break. (Thanks to We Care and Care Parent Network.)

We Care Summer Camp for Campers with Autism:
Summer Friends Camp for Ages 7 to 12
Week-long sessions from July 11 through August 19
Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm
Pleasant Hill Elementary, 2097 Oak Park Blvd.
Cost: $500 for each 1-week session

AFSP Summer Camp for Ages 2 to 7
Week-long sessions from August 8 through 19
Monday through Friday, 9 am to 1 pm
We Care Services, 2191 Kirker Pass Rd. Concord
Cost: $400 for each 1-week session.

Social Summer Camp at Skill Builders
Week 1: July 18 You and Me: Friendship Skills
Week 2: July 25 Cooperation and Competition
Week 3: August 1 Oh What Drama, Express Yourself
Week 4: August 8 Treasure Hun: Problem Solving
Tuition: $375 per week.
Monday through Friday 9 am to 3 pm
6 years and up, middle and high school age can apply as Junior Staff Assistants.

CAL Recreational Sports: Social Skills Camp for children with nonverbal learning disabilities, high functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome and children with social skills deficits. Contact Dr. Jennifer Selke at (510) 642-7648 or jenn8@berkeley.edu.

City of Walnut Creek Specialized Recreation: (925)256-3531. Offers weekly activities (karate and yoga) and special trips on evenings and weekends.
