Please describe your job and responsibilities.
I am a resource specialist at Concord High School. My responsibilities include:
1)Working collaboratively with teachers in all subject areas to ensure that all
of the students on my caseload have their IEP's accommodations/modifications and
goals met.
2)creating, implementing and holding IEP's of all types and BSP's as needed.
3)Creating an environment conducive to my student's learning including but not
limited to a quiet and small group environment.
4) Provide help and extra support in all subject areas to my students as needed.
5)Pushing in to my students general education classes to provide the support
they require to access the general education curriculum.
6)Teach and develop my students test taking skills and strategies.
7)Provide instruction and goals in career and transition planning.
8)Develop and maintain a collaborative and inclusive relationship with parents.
What inspired you to work in this profession?
I attended MDUSD my entire time in public education. I feel a close bond with
special needs students and their parents. I love kids and I love to teach.
What is your professional goal?
To create a learning environment for all students that is safe and nurturing
which also promotes independence and a feeling of success.
