The State Board of Education (SBE) is currently seeking applications for four appointments to serve on the Advisory Commission on Special Education (ACSE). Three of the four appointments to serve on the ACSE must be parents of a child or young adult with disabilities, and one of these three parents must be a representative of the charter school community. The fourth appointment may be any member of the public who is interested in state-level policy development in the area of special education. The ACSE is an advisory panel which regularly meets and provides recommendations and advice to the SBE, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Legislature, and the Governor in new or continuing areas of research, program development, and evaluation in California special education. Additional requirements can be found on the ACSE Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/se/as/acserqrmnt.asp.
